Now that the Panthers have won the Stanley Cup, all NHL teams can officially flip the page to next season.
That process formerly begins Friday night with Round 1 of the 2024 NHL Draft.
This year’s crown jewel prospect is Macklin Celebrini. The 18-year-old center had a sensational freshman season for Boston University, notching 32 goals and 32 assists in 38 games. Celebrini also won the Hobey Baker as the nation’s preeminent player. In doing so, he became just the fourth freshman to win the award, company that includes two other high draft picks: Jack Eichel (No. 2 overall in 2015) and Adam Fantilli (No. 3 overall in 2023).
Celebrini would certainly fill a need for the Sharks as a potential top-line, high-impact center. And after ending last season with just 47 points, the Sharks could use a player of Celebrini’s caliber to spark a turnaround.
Dozens of other franchises are hoping to jumpstart turnarounds and refurbish their rosters this weekend, too. Here is all the information that you need to know in order to listen to the 2024 NHL Draft on the radio.
