In a recent episode of “Freestyle,” a show hosted by Miryo for the South Korean Defense Media Agency‘s KFN Radio, all members of the Brown Eyed Girls guested to chat.
Mid-episode, member Gain mentioned she was working on weight loss, as well as bettering herself inside out in hopes of “sharing something with her fans soon.”
Miryo: And you, Gain? What have you been up to?
Gain: I’ve been trying to lose weight.
Jea: Why are you always trying to lose weight?!
Miryo: It seems to be going well, though! You look great in that outfit.
Gain: Yeah, I’m working on losing weight and keeping it off. And… While nothing is specific yet, I’m working on coming up with something to share with my fans as soon as possible…
Miryo: A solo comeback?!
Gain: Maybe. Like I said, nothing specific in mind yet. But I do want to be in front of my fans again. So I’m trying this and that. Working on keeping myself healthy and presentable… I’m just working on a lot of different things right now.
While the surprise hint at her possible return excited Brown Eyed Girls fans…

…it also resurfaced Gain’s previous criminal record of drug use.
In 2021, Gain was fined ₩1.00 million KRW (about $ 720 USD) for illegally administering propofol, a painkiller and controlled substance.

Netizens clashed over whether or not Gain should be allowed to return to the entertainment scene given her past criminal record…
- “I get that the threshold is different for all, but for me… As long as it’s not murder or sexual assault, celebrities can return after having reflected on themselves. I believe in second chances.”
- “Wow, she was born in 1987 but has not aged at all.”
- [Deleted Comment]
- “Whoa. I’ve been looking up what she has been up to…”
- “PLEASE COME BACK.”
- “Go Gain! You can ‘repay us’ with new music, haha.”
- “Give us a new album. You can totally promote again.”
- “Gain has such a cutie patootie face. She’s so adorable.”
- “A lot of other celebrities who have drug offenses made their returns long before she did. So, it makes no sense for us to hold Gain to a higher standard. But what she did was wrong, and it cannot be helped that she will forever be labeled for her criminal offense. That’s something she’ll have to live with.”
- “I mean, I did enjoy her solo promotions…”
- “Hwaiting!”
…with some fierce in arguing that there is no reason for her to be banned when other celebrities with the same drug offense have been back in business for a long time.
- “I have never seen such a supportive comment section for someone with a drug offense.”
- “She’s so cute… Hasn’t changed at all.”
- “Oh… I did not realize she had a criminal record. A druggie, of all things?”
- “A new album, please. ASAP.”
- “Please come back!”
- “She was a druggie?! I had no idea.”
- “I’m so confused by the people in the comments… We’re rooting for her?”
- “I mean, she stayed down low for a looong time. It’s about time she releases a new album.”
- “The reason doesn’t matter. She did what she did and it’s going to follow her for the rest of her life. But I don’t want to criticize her, given that everyone else with the same offense as hers has made their returns with no issues and people support them as if their criminal record does not exist. TBH, she has been away for what seems like one of the longest timeouts. So…”
- “Oh, she looks great. Hwaiting!”
