Earlier this year, it was reported that the iconic 2003 K-Drama Jewel In The Palace would get a sequel over 20 years after it originally aired.
The drama tells the story of Jang Geum, the woman reportedly the first female royal physician in Korean history. Actress Lee Young Ae starred as Seo Jang Geum in the drama, which many consider her breakout role.
Since then, Lee Young Ae has appeared in countless other projects, but many have a special place in their hearts for Jewel In The Palace. Because of this, many were thrilled when it was announced that Lee Young Ae was recast for the role, which will supposedly pick up where it left it 20 years ago, with Seo Jang Geum successfully becoming a medic.
The drama is not set to begin filming until October 2025. Still, Lee Young Ae recently gave an unintentional “preview” of what to expect from the series, showing off her age-defying visuals.
In an Instagram post, Lee Young Ae shared behind-the-scenes photos from a shoot for what appears to be an herbal medicine brand. In the images, the 53-year-old is wearing a hanbok and staged in an older-looking building, which gives similar vibes to her appearance in the drama.
When comparing these photos with some of her images from Jewel In The Palace, it is amazing that the star looks just as, if not more, youthful!
Fans praised the actress’s visuals, and expressed hopes of seeing her acting soon!
