EA Sports has announced its cover athlete for Madden 25: San Francisco 49ers superstar Christian McCaffrey.
McCaffrey will become the first 49ers player to ever appear on the cover of Madden’s global release, as well as the first running back to do so in the last 11 years.
A seven-year veteran of the NFL, McCaffrey is coming off a historic season in which he was named AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year. McCaffrey led the NFL in multiple offensive categories during the 2023 season with a career-high 1,459 rushing yards, 2,023 yards from scrimmage, and 21 rushing and receiving touchdowns.
The 2023 season also witnessed McCaffrey set the 49ers records for rushing touchdowns in a season (14) and most consecutive games with a touchdown (17), the latter mark tying an NFL record.
McCaffrey’s appearance on the cover of Madden represents yet another victory in what has been a legendary couple of years for the 28-year-old All-Pro running back.
Since being traded to the 49ers from the Carolina Panthers on October 20, 2022, McCaffrey has performed as one of the best offensive players in the league, culminating in a Super Bowl appearance this past February.
All signs point to McCaffrey remaining in San Francisco for the foreseeable future, as he just signed a two-year extension with the team on June 4 that will keep him in a 49ers jersey through the 2027 season. The new $ 38 million deal solidifies McCaffrey as far and away the highest-paid running back in the history of the league.
