$ 1 million will be on the line as the 2024 TST competition comes to a dramatic close on Monday evening, and for the first time in the tournament’s two-year history, that purse will be up for grabs twice.
The first-ever TST women’s final will take the field at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC at 7 p.m. ET with the men’s final to come shortly after at 8:30 p.m. ET.
In both games, a million-dollar prize will be awarded to the winner, while the loser walks home with nothing. The seven-on-seven matches will be played across 40 minutes of regulation, before being sent to what is known as “target score time.” There, the “target score” is the winning team’s total plus one, and it’s first to that number wins, ensuring every game ends on a walk-off goal.
The Sporting News brings you everything you need to know about this year’s final, with a prize awarded to both the men’s winner and women’s champion at the end of the evening.

Nani FC vs. La Bombonera in men’s 2024 TST final

While there were thoughts of 2023 champions Newtown Pride making another run at the $ 1 million, that dream came to an end in the semifinals where they were beaten for the first time in two tournaments by none other than former Manchester United veteran Nani.
The Portuguese legend’s titular team has been the best side in the entire men’s bracket, knocking off multiple top teams as they have run the table all the way to the 2024 final. With recognizable names such as Bruno Alves, Dom Dwyer, and Ricardo Carvalho alongside him, Nani has led his team to the brink of the tournament’s famous winner-take-all pot.
Yet it’s been former West Virginia University star Franck Tayou to lead the team on the scoresheet, as his five goals are one of the most of any player in the men’s bracket.
Tayou is level with a member of his final opponent in Joaquin Hernandez of La Bombonera, a team hailing from Delaware with Mexican roots. Hernandez, who made a few appearances for Liga MX giants Monterrey early in a journeyman professional career, has five goals of his own to lead La Bombonera to a sweep of Group D and a run through the knockouts, most recently topping defensively impressive Hoosier Army in the semifinals.
US Women vs. NC Courage in women’s 2024 TST final

Mon, Jun. 10 | 7 p.m. | NC Courage vs. US Women | Streaming: ESPN+ |
Having served as the lone women’s side in the inaugural 2023 TST competition last year, the U.S. Women are on the brink of winning the inaugural TST women’s bracket, installed for the first time in this year’s event.
The team is led by TST investor Heather O’Reilly and former USWNT star Ali Krieger, with other USWNT veterans such as Ali Long, Lori Lindsey, and Cat Whitehill all on the roster. The U.S. Women have seen contributions from a host of other contributors as well, including Jo Lohman, who earned nine USWNT caps in her career and played on last year’s team, as well as former UNC standout Talia Dellaperuta and her sister Tori, who both play for Italian side Sampdoria.
They will meet their most formidable opponent yet as they take on local side NC Courage. While they lack the star power of their opponents, NC Courage have familiarity on their side, as they are an extension of the NWSL club that plays its home matches right on this very WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.
Five goals by former Illinois and Bowling Green forward Madison Wolfbauer leads the women’s bracket by a significant margin, as nobody else has more than three. She leads a roster with strong talent, including former Wake Forest midfield standout Gi DeMarco, who was taken in the 2023 NWSL draft by the San Diego Wave, and former USWNT forward Jessica McDonald who earned 19 international caps in her excellent career.
