From their Y2K styling to their catchy hit songs, NewJeans has become one of K-Pop’s hottest groups. They have also achieved a milestone that might not have been possible without ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin at the helm.
Within months of their debut, NewJeans saw enormous success, earning their first Daesang (Grand Prize) at the 2022 Asia Artist Awards. By doing so, they broke the record for the shortest amount of time a K-Pop group has earned a Daesang, surpassing the previous record-holder, Miss A. This was not, however, their only major accomplishment.
On tvN‘s You Quiz On The Block, NewJeans opened up about their debut preparations and their success. Min Hee Jin was also featured in the episode. She said that she considers NewJeans her honorary kids and, likewise, they view her as their honorary mom.
👩🦳min heejin: hanni’s parents lives in australia and this time they came to korea. Hanni’s little sister, hanni and her mom have matching pajamas and they gave me the same ones. They also gave all the members the same pajamas. They called me Hanni’s Korean Motherㅠㅠ😭#newjeans pic.twitter.com/p2zojdqSDH

The members and their respective parents appreciated Min Hee Jin’s care and guidance, which made the group’s instant success after years of preparation and hard work even more satisfying. That instant success allowed the NewJeans members to be paid only two months after their debut.
Typically, it takes much longer for K-Pop groups to receive their first pay as many contracts require the idol to pay back costs incurred during their training period. Some groups never receive compensation as an idol.
Former SONAMOO’s Euijin earned her first paycheck from her part-time job at a cafe after her group disbanded, despite having been an idol for seven years. Ladies’ Code’s Ashley revealed that she didn’t earn money during the seven years her group was actively promoting. Unfortunately, many more idols have had similar experiences.
At the time, Bunnies celebrated NewJeans’ impressive accomplishment, praising ADOR and their parent company HYBE LABELS, for not inundating their artists with debt.
I know people hate on HYBE for a million of reasons, but the fact they debut rookies debt free now and they actually start earning straight away is actually something that needs to become the industry standard. https://t.co/lvbhXRXovI

The way with idols from HYBE, the money from their music goes to their pockets and them having no trainee debt is a plus, not that many idols can say that and it’s sad https://t.co/ZTcYS4zmWw
