New York Yankees star right fielder Juan Soto underwent an MRI on Friday, and it appears the initial results were positive.
Soto, who exited Thursday night’s game early due to left forearm discomfort, appears to be dealing with inflammation, according to Jon Heyman of The New York Post.
The Yankees and the fan base can all collectively breathe a sigh of relief as long as further tests don’t show more of an issue.
Initial prognosis is inflammation for Soto. So looks like a relief.

While the Yankees seem to be out of the woods in terms of a long-term injury, Soto is not initially in the lineup Friday night when the Yankees host the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Soto told reporters after Thursday night’s win over the Minnesota Twins that he’s been dealing with the forearm injury for a week or two.
However, he stated it hasn’t impacted his ability to swing a bat or throw a ball.
“It’s not any specific activities,” Soto said Thursday night. “It’s kind of funny that it doesn’t hurt me whenever I throw or hitting. It’s more like soreness that I feel with any kind of move that I make with my arm, but definitely don’t stop me for anything baseball-wise and in the field.”
Soto has been more than advertised after the Yankees acquired him in a trade this offseason. He’s been reliable and productive at an elite level.
Entering Friday, His 4.1 fWAR is tied for the best in MLB with teammate Aaron Judge. He ranks second MLB in wRC+ (190), OPS (1.027) and runs scored (49), fourth in RBI (53) and walks (46) and fifth in home runs (17).
