Kim Ho Joong, one of Korea’s most prominent trot singers, was recently arrested following a hit-and-run incident that has significantly tarnished his public image.
The singer and his team allegedly attempted to cover up the crime, further complicating his situation and drawing widespread public outrage.
In a recent broadcast of Channel A’s news program Powerful Team 4, viewers were updated on Kim’s unexpected situation after his transfer from the Gangnam Police Station detention center to the Seoul Detention Center. The broadcast revealed that Kim — who was initially held in a solitary cell at the police station — continues to be held in isolation at the detention center.
Due to his high-profile status, there are concerns that Kim could face harassment from other inmates. Additionally, officials are worried about the risk of self-harm due to potential psychological distress. Therefore, Kim is being closely monitored in solitary confinement.
There might be a possibility of relocating him after observing his adjustment over the next few days. If he adapts well, he could be moved to another room or cell.

Interestingly, Korean media has noted that Kim’s current cell is in the same building that previously housed singer Jung Joon Young (involved in the “Burning Sun” scandal) and Jo Joo Bin, the central figure in the “Nth Room” case.
Due to the massive public attention on Kim Ho Joong’s case, details regarding his cell have also been made public. According to wikitree the cell is approximately 5.05 square meters in size and equipped with surveillance cameras, a toilet, a sink, a blanket, and a television. It has been reported that Kim is allowed to watch TV daily between 5 PM and 9 PM.
In related news, a recent post on social media highlighted the meal schedule for detainees at the Seoul Detention Center, which some netizens sarcastically compared to a gourmet restaurant.
