Movie director Shin Sung Hoon has raised immense concerns after his recent disappearance following social media posts hinting at suicide.
On June 4, KST, his agency Light Culture House, announced that director Shin had been missing for two days after uploading a post implying suicide. The agency issued an urgent plea for assistance from the media to find him, stating that his phone had been turned off for several days and they hadn’t found any other way to get in touch with him.
It was also revealed that Shin Sung Hoon frequently confided in his colleagues under the same agency about how difficult he found his life to be and the hurt he had received from other people. He even found it difficult to express his suffering with ease to the people around him.
Director Shin’s social media account has also been made private, causing further panic among fans.
Meanwhile, Shin’s latest movie, Thank You, Jjajangmyeon, has received incredible acclaim both domestically and overseas. Since its release in October 2022, it has bagged over 81 awards, including the Best Director Award and the Best Drama Award at the Hollywood Bluebird Film Festival. It also recently won the Best Picture Award at the Gully International Film Festival, drawing significant attention.
