It has been six years since JYP Entertainment debuted their last K-Pop boy group, Stray Kids, in early 2018 (though they were releasing content from as far back as 2017, seven years ago). It’s therefore been long enough that fans have been expecting the label to debut a new boy group sometime soon, and it seems like that might finally be in the process!
The survival show LOUD, which was produced by JYP Entertainment and P Nation, aired between June and September 2021. The five winners — Yoonmin, Lee Gyehun, Amaru, Keiju, and Lee Donghyeon — have had fans eagerly awaiting them to actually debut as K-Pop idols, but their status and career plans have stayed relatively quiet since the end of the show. Yoonmin actually ended up departing from JYP Entertainment and the future boy group in April 2023, leaving the four remaining trainees.
Fans have been getting impatient for more information regarding the members of JYP’s future boy group, which was named JYP LOUD as a placeholder before their official name was released. But some eagle-eyed fans believe they might have discovered what that name might be, thanks to some copyright claims made by the label.
It seems like QUIRI is potentially the boy group’s name, according to these copyright claims.
Not much else is known about the group yet, such as if there will be more members added or what their concept will be. But fans of these trainees have been patiently waiting for some time now, and hopefully this means their wait is almost over!
Korean netizens discussed the copyrighted name on a popular forum, with some amused and bewildered reactions about the alleged chosen name and potential fandom names.
- “Marie Curie? The fandom name should be Marie.”
- “Is it different from NexG?”
- “Will the fandom name be radium?”
- “Wow, it’s been seven years.”
- “Wow… When was LOUD? They still haven’t debuted yet?”
- “It’s Curie? But at least the LOUD members are finally debuting.”
- “Are they coming out at the same time as NexG? I heard NexG is also debuting in Korea.”
- “LOUD Gyehun, fighting.”
- “Wow, it’s more surprising that it’s been seven years since Stray Kids ㅋㅋㅋ”
Are you looking forward to JYP’s new boy group?
