Following both of their Coachella 2024 performances, the members of LE SSERAFIM have been the targets of criticism from netizens.
The group’s first-weekend performance left many unsatisfied with their live vocals as netizens picked apart every part of their stages. This, unfortunately, grew to more than comments about their singing abilities, as there were eventually calls made for HYBE to protect Eunchae from malicious commenters.

On April 20, the group’s second performance occurred, unleashing more mixed feelings than before as it was debated whether or not they were lip-syncing.

Amid all of the discussions about LE SSERAFIM’s Coachella performances, an unexpected group have gone viral in Korea.
Each year, Coachella hosts a diverse set of artists from around the globe. American mass media company and record label 88rising have aided in this, hosting a special 88 Rising Futures stage that includes many Asian artists, like BIBI and GOT7’s Jackson Wang.
This year’s line-up included the viral Japanese girl group Atarashii Gakko!
Atarashii Gakko! was formed in 2015 but saw recent growth from their hit song “Tokyo Calling.” The four-membered group is known for appearing in schoolgirl outfits despite all members being 22 and older.
Several clips of Atarashii Gakko!’s Coachella performance were shared on a popular Korean forum, showing the group during different songs.

One of the points made in LE SSERAFIM’s defense was that their vocals would be affected by their activity level. Netizens reflected on this, remarking how, despite having active choreography, Atarashii Gakko! sounded stable throughout their performance.
- For f*ck’s sake… One group ruining all of K-Pop’s reputation. Lol.
- Their music might not be for everyone, but their live vocals are great. Never in my life did I think I’d praise a Japanese group for their singing skills, but… here I am, now that I know what it’s like to watch groups butcher live performances. LMAO.
- This feels unreal, but here we are… praising a Japanese group for their performances. HAHA
- Their live vocals are much better than LE SSERAFIM’s.
- NGL, I can’t not compare this to LE SSERAFIM’s controversial live performances. This group is actually good, and I can tell there’s real ambition and passion here.
