This weekend is all about super lightweight supremacy as reigning WBC champion Devin Haney makes his maiden defense against old amateur rival Ryan Garcia at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 20.
The 12-round bout, plus undercard action, will be broadcast via DAZN PPV.
Haney is the favorite and for good reason. The former undisputed lightweight king is a fixture on any pound-for-pound list worth reading and he’s in sublime form. In December, “The Dream” became a two-weight world champion courtesy of a punch-perfect performance against Regis Prograis.

Garcia has only mixed at this level once before. In April of last year, the young Californian was knocked out by Gervonta “Tank” Davis in a 136-pound catchweight contest. He has since bounced back to score a knockout win over Oscar Duarte and is supremely confident of dethroning his old foe.
The Sporting News will provide live coverage and unofficial scoring for the main event.
