Following LE SSERAFIM‘s “Coachella 2024” performance, there has been—inevitably—a lot of talk among K-Pop fans in and outside Korea about the girl group’s live vocals.
Amid the divided reactions between those praising LE SSERAFIM members for “proving” the haters wrong vs. those expressing disappointment once again, one tweet has gone viral for attacking Chaewon‘s slip-up in the middle of her “Fire In The Belly” performance.
LE SSERAFIM Earn Praise For Singing Live At “Coachella 2024” Despite Previous Encore Controversy
Overnight, the tweet has garnered over 3.4M views: The X (former Twitter) user called out LE SSERAFIM as a whole for subpar singing skills, but the video focused on Chaewon falling out of pitch while belting a high-range note.

So you’re telling me this isn’t a video of me and my friends at karaoke night? This is LE SSERAFIM at Coachella?

A theqoo post, nearing 99K views, also referred to the moment to be Chaewon’s “most embarrassing and biggest mistake” of the night—though, these posts have since triggered Korean fans to come to the member’s defense.
- “I don’t know this song, but even I can tell this isn’t a huge slip-up. And while the video is cropped to focus on the mistake, I’m not too bothered about it. So…”
- “Are we going to slam the one member who worked her a*s off all night to do her share? I get that we’re all LE SSERAFIM antis now, but this isn’t it.”
Hundreds of comments pointed out there is no real constructive value from nitpicking on the one time that Chaewon fell out of pitch.
- “This was after LE SSERAFIM had performed 9-10 songs… And since she had been literally carrying the whole performance all night, it makes sense for her voice to crack at this point.”
- “IDK… People who are commenting that Chaewon is good need to be more honest.”
- “But this is because she’s more or less singing all of the songs by herself. Of course, her voice is going to crack.”
- “I don’t want to hate on Chaewon because she actually worked so hard…”
While some remained adamant that the girl group didn’t impress, most pulled together for Chaewon and said, “It was a minor hiccup that should be overlooked.”
- “Geez… This is a minor hiccup. Y’all should be more worried about your own lives.”
- “Falling out of pitch once a while happens to everyone. We can talk about the performance without nitpicking on this.”
- “This is common, though. Everyone slips now and then. I can’t believe people got so worked up over this. Haha.”
As K-Pop’s most scrutinizing fanbase, Koreans are borderline malicious with their reactions to LE SSERAFIM’s Coachella endeavor. Read more about what’s being said:
