Dispatch exposed former T-ara member Areum‘s boyfriend as a fraudster.
On April 1, Dispatch labeled the idol’s boyfriend as “The 2nd coming of Jeon Chung Jo” after the notorious fraudster who allegedly scammed Olympic athlete Nam Hyun Hee.
According to Dispatch, Seo Dong Hoon had served prison time in 2021 on charges of fraud, sexual assault, and making threats. Areum’s boyfriend is reported to have served 2 years and 6 months in jail; more alarming is the fact that out of the 3 victims in the crime, 2 were his ex-girlfriends.
Dispatch then revealed Seo Dong Hoon, after being released from prison in September of 2023, started falsely introducing himself as a screenwriter who worked for Lotte Entertainment, one of Korea’s largest conglomerates. Dispatch reveals the two first got in contact in October when Areum DMed him. Dispatch would go on to reveal further that the two would start asking acquaintances for money, just two months after the meeting.
Could it be that Areum was fooled by Seo Dong Hoon’s fake Instagram page? Although we couldn’t find when their love first started, we can trace back to when the fraud began. Areum and Seo Dong Hoon began asking acquaintances for money just 2 months after meeting.

According to Dispatch the two borrowed ₩30.0 million KRW (about $ 22,300 USD) from T-ara fans, claiming the money was needed to pay for Areum’s child’s medical bills. The couple would continue to send photos of themselves at a hospital to acquaintances to ask for money. Dispatch revealed that out of the ₩44.0 million KRW (about $ 32,700 USD) that they borrowed, they have only paid back ₩2.00 million KRW (about $ 1,490 USD). Dispatch reported that there are at least 10 victims of the fraud.
Dispatch’s report comes just days after Areum and her boyfriend were alleged to have committed fraud. You can read more about the issue at the link below.
