No. 3 UConn and No. 6 Syracuse face off in a key second-round matchup in the 2024 Division I women’s basketball tournament.
The Huskies won their first-round matchup over Jackson State by 22 points. Three players scored at least 20 points for UConn, led by Paige Bueckers’ 28 points and 11 rebounds.
Syracuse came back with a big fourth quarter to beat Arizona in the first round. Dyaisha Fair scored 32 points for the Orange, including four from behind the arc.
Syracuse has the opportunity to do something they’ve never done in women’s basketball history: beat UConn. The Huskies have never lost to the Orange in their 17 previous meetings.
These two sides last met in the second round of the 2021 tournament; UConn won by 36 points.
UConn scored 80.9 points per game this year and allowed 56.5 points. Syracuse averaged 74.4 points per game and gave up 65.5 points per game this year.
