Actor Ji Soo (also known as Jisoo Kim) is known for his handsome visuals and acting skills, appearing in some of the hottest K-Dramas, such as Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (also known as Strong Girl Bong Soon), Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, and My First First Love.
Yet, his successful acting career came crashing down in March 2021 after Ji Soo was accused of school violence, bullying, and assault shortly after his KBS K-Drama River Where the Moon Rises premiered. Due to this, his agency at the time, KeyEast, terminated their contract with him. Likewise, although River Where the Moon Rises had already aired episodes with Ji Soo as he was the male lead, he was replaced by Na In Woo due to Ji Soo’s scandal.
The actor enlisted in October 2021 and was discharged in 2023. Following his discharge, Ji Soo held an exclusive interview with Sports Chosun to update the public regarding the accusations made against him and how the initial informant had since forgiven him.
I met with “A” and talked with him for a long time. He thought I ostracized him from the other students because I was close with “B,” a student who was involved in the gift certificate theft. It’s true I was close with “B” at that time. So I think “A” thought I was involved in the incident. We talked about the misunderstandings and we resolved the issue, that I was not involved. It was not something I did, but I apologized because I was close to “B.” I would like to once again apologize to “A” and other school friends that I hurt.

Ji Soo remained silent other than this. After two years, he finally posted an update via Instagram, showcasing his visuals while looking forward to the spring season.
Yet, he stopped posting again. It was not until late November 2023 that he began posting more frequently. He shared new photoshoots, including a recent headshot. While he appeared solemn, some captions were inspirational, including “Better than yesterday.”
Shortly after, Ji Soo shared photos from travels. He had visited Manila and Jeju, looking at peace in the sunshine.
Ji Soo also wished his 6.4M followers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. He showcased his duality with the two posts.
Ji Soo is also back on magazine covers. He appeared on the anniversary issue of PARCINQ. It included an interview where he expressed his undying love for acting.
For me, my happiness is in acting. I’m happiest when I’m on the set and I’m shooting a drama or a movie.
— Ji Soo
His most recent posts, all in 2024, are thoughtful, suggesting he is on an ongoing personal growth journey. Most are photos of himself, whether professional or candid.
Yet, the captions are always thought-provoking or inspirational: “To live in hope,” “Love more, worry less,” “Creating my own sunshine,” “I’m not perfect, but stories are always better with a touch of imperfection,” and “In some ways, the hard thing in our lives its only few days out of a few decades.”
Ji Soo has clearly been reading a lot these days. He proved this by uploading a photo of a book. It was the new essay, Despite on the edge of a cliff, I haven‘t fallen yet, written by So Jae Won.
Reading this brutally beautiful book has provided immense comfort to my heart and once again sparked significant motivation in my life.
‘Now is the time to be happy!’— Ji Soo
Now, Ji Soo’s latest update suggests a comeback. On March 3, he and photo studio 307Studio uploaded a reel. It must have been behind-the-scenes footage from a recent photoshoot.
Just because i’m with you for no reason.
I think its the most pleasant thing to do.— Ji Soo
His recent posts’ comment section are mostly positive, as netizens express their support. They hope that Ji Soo has grown and will soon return to acting.
Only time will tell if Ji Soo will return to our screens.
