North Carolina is arguably the most class NCAA men’s basketball team. All that needs to be said is one name.
Nevertheless, it’s been an up-and-down few years for the Tar Heels. Hubert Davis took over for legendary coach Roy Williams in 2022 and had one of the most magical runs in March Madness history. The eight-seeded team made beat rival Duke in the Final Four to advance to the championship game. A year later, North Carolina didn’t even make the NCAA tournament.
Now, in Davis’s third year, Chapel Hill is back on top. The ACC regular season champions are looking for a 2017-style run in this year’s NCAA tournament. It all begins in Charlotte as the No. 1 seed in the West. The Tar Heels will play the winner of Howard and Wagner who play on Tuesday as part of the First Four in Dayton.
The Tar Heels will be joined in Charlotte by 8-seed Mississippi State and 9-seed Michigan State.
