Survive and advance: That’s how the saying goes, and that’s exactly what USC has to do to keep its NCAA Tournament hopes alive.
The Trojans will play every game of the Pac-12 Tournament with their season on the line. That continues in Thursday’s quarterfinal against top-seeded Arizona. USC’s 15-17 overall record is far from worthy of an at-large bid, so the team will have to win its conference championship to steal an automatic ticket to March Madness.
The Trojans picked up an 80-74 win over Washington in the first round Wednesday behind 25 points from Boogie Ellis, 13 points and seven assists from Isaiah Collier and seven points and five rebounds from Bronny James, the son of NBA star LeBron James.
Now USC faces a Wildcats team that it just upset over the weekend at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.
Can the Trojans pull off another underdog victory over No. 6 Arizona to put themselves two wins away from an unlikely NCAA Tournament appearance?
