Beloved South Korean TV personality Kim Shin Young will be taking a temporary leave from her bustling schedule due to health concerns, her agency C-JeS Studio confirmed.
The renowned MC and radio host has been diagnosed with acute laryngitis, leading to her inability to speak and consequently step away from her radio hosting duties momentarily.
On March 6, Kim Shin Young was noticeably absent from her usual spot as the DJ for MBC FM4U‘s Kim Shin Young’s Hope Song at Noon. The agency explained her condition to Sports Chosun, stating, “Kim Shin Young is unable to speak, so she unavoidably won’t be able to host her radio show tomorrow.”
In her stead, singer Jung Mo took over as the special DJ for the day, ensuring the continuity of the beloved radio program.
The diagnosis of acute laryngitis came on March 5, prompting immediate medical attention for the star. C-JeS Studio shared that Kim Shin Young is currently resting and undergoing treatment — with her return to the radio scheduled after a brief hiatus of two days, dependent on her recovery status.
The health scare comes shortly after Kim Shin Young made headlines for stepping down as the MC of KBS1‘s National Singing Contest. Having taken over from the late Song Hae, she has been a fixture on the show since October of the previous year. Her departure marks the end of a significant chapter in her career, concluding with the last recording on March 9.
C-JeS Entertainment expressed the production team’s surprise at the announcement of the MC change but assured that Kim Shin Young is determined to make her final appearance memorable. The agency remarked, “Kim Shin Young plans to energetically take part in the last recording with the production team she has been traveling across the country with for over two years.”
Since the news dropped, fans and colleagues have wished the MC a speedy recovery and a swift return to radio.
