Real Madrid head to east Germany where they play RB Leipzig in the first leg of the Round of 16 of this season’s UEFA Champions League.
Jude Bellingham and company had a faultless group stage as they finished top of Group C with six wins from six games.
Leipzig got the job done in Group G, winning four of their six matches and losing twice to current champions Manchester City.
Bellingham will be absent from this opening knockout match while he recovers from an ankle injury. It is anticipated he will be available for the second leg in the Spanish capital. In his absence, the likes of Vinicius Junior will be the biggest threat to a Leipzig team that were destroyed 8-1 on aggregate by Man City at this stage of last season’s competition.
The Sporting News will be following the match live, providing score updates, commentary, and highlights as they happen.

RB Leipzig vs Real Madrid live updates, highlights, and commentary
86th minute: Sesko goes into the book after catching Tchouameni in the face with an overhead kick.
83rd minute: Brahim Diaz pulls up with what appears to be a muscle injury. He’s brought off and that will be a worry for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
79th minute: Another glorious opportunity for Leipzig but nobody gambles in the box and it trickles across the six-yard box and out for a corner.
72nd minute: What a chance for Vini Jr to double Madrid’s lead. He uses his trickery in the box and cuts onto his left but pokes the ball with his right past Gulacsi and only the post can prevent him a goal.

61st minute: Oh no, Olmo. He gets it all wrong in the 18-yard box and opts to shoot instead of cutting the ball back to a teammate. That could have been a wonderful opportunity to pull one back.
56th minute: Leipzig have done well to steady themselves after falling behind and have looked dangerous on the attack but so far have nothing to show for their efforts.
49th minute: GOAL! No Bellingham? No problem. Brahim Diaz produces a superb strike to give Madrid the lead. It’s an excellent solo move before curling one to the far post.
Jude Bellingham who…? 👀

46th minute: We’re back underway for the second half.
HT: A first half that saw many chances created but lacked composure in the final third.
44th minute: Brahim Diaz connects beautifully with Vini Jr but he can’t redirect his strike goalwards.
36th minute: Considering he’s expected to be their main goal threat, Vini Jr is yet to have a shot tonight.
29th minute: Carvajal absolutely wipes out Xavi Simons and somehow avoids a yellow card.
22nd minute: Rodrygo tries his luck from distance but his effort is charged down and blocked well.
8th minute: After a shakey start for the visitors, Madrid are growing into the game now. Rodrygo and Vini are just starting to find each other on the attack.
2nd minute: CLOSE for Leipzig! Sesko finds the back of the net but there was a player stood in an offside position impeding Lunin’s view and he’s offside.
1st minute: We’re off!
5 minutes until kickoff: Cracking atmosphere in the Red Bull Arena. We’re moments from kickoff…
