Bet on Browns vs. Texans, Dolphins vs. Chiefs: NFL Saturday playoff odds & picks + BetMGM bonus code
Here are the recent odds for Browns vs. Texans (from BetMGM), which kicks off today at 4:30 p.m. (ET) on NBC.
Browns (11-6 SU; 10-6-1 ATS) vs. Texans (10-7 SU; 9-8 ATS)
- Point spread: Browns -2 (-110); Texans +2 (-110)
- Moneyline: Browns -130; Texans +110
- Total: O/U 44.5
The Browns’ offense seemed to have finally found its rhythm midseason when Deshaun Watson went down with a season-ending injury in Week 10. But the great team the Browns’ brass built around Watson showed its resilience, bolstered by the sturdy play of veteran QB Joe Flacco. The Browns’ league-leading defense, of course, is the real reason Cleveland has thrived this season, finishing second behind the Ravens in the tough AFC North with an 11-6 record. The Browns ended the season with four straight wins with Flacco under center before resting most of their starters for the Week 18 finale.
With their first-year head coach DeMeco Ryans and rookie QB C.J. Stroud, the Texans were one of the surprise success stories of the 2023-24 NFL season. The Texans clinched the AFC South for the first time since 2019 with a win over the Colts last week. Houston comes into this home playoff game on a two-game winning streak and winners of four of their final six games.
Browns vs. Texans pick to consider
- Browns -2: The Browns beat the Texans on Christmas Eve 36-22, but Houston was without the injured Stroud. The Texans will be more competitive with Stroud but the rookie quarterback has been inconsistent at times this season. In Week 14 against the Jets, for example, Stroud was kept out of the end zone and limited to 91 yards passing. That Jets defense was good but the Browns are even better and, with an extra week of rest, Cleveland should be well prepared to keep the Texans offense in check.
Betting line for Dolphins vs. Chiefs, 8 p.m. (ET) on NBC’s Peacock streaming platform.
The Saturday night NFL wild card game between the Dolphins and Chiefs is being exclusively streamed on Peacock.
Dolphins (11-6 SU; 10-7 ATS) vs. Chiefs (11-6 SU; 9-7-1 ATS)
- Point spread: Dolphins +4.5 (-110); Chiefs -4.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Dolphins +185; Chiefs -225
- Total: O/U 43.5
At different times this season, both the Dolphins and Chiefs were hailed as Super Bowl favorites and seemed unstoppable. Both offensive powerhouses also hit dismal skids down the final stretch of the season where it appeared as if the magic was gone.
The Dolphins seemed to have the AFC East all but locked up at midseason, but the surging Bills overtook them, clinching the division last week with a 21-14 win in Miami. It was the Dolphins’ second straight loss to end the season, coming after a promising win over Dallas, a game that was preceded by embarrassing losses to the Titans and Jets. Injuries on both sides of the ball have hobbled Miami as they limp into Kansas City with a 1-4 record in their final five games.
Despite handily winning the AFC West and three of their last five games, the Chiefs are also entering the playoffs with questions about their once-dominant offense. Patrick Mahomes has been hindered by a receiving corps that led the league in dropped passes. The defending Super Bowl champs won their finale last week against the Chargers despite sitting many of their starters, but before that they were 2-3 in a stretch that included a pitiful 20-14 home loss to the Raiders on Christmas.
Dolphins vs. Chiefs pick to consider
- Chiefs -4.5: Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami offense can be highly explosive; they led the league in total yards, average yards per game and average passing yards per game, and they were second behind the Cowboys in points per game. But given their collapse down the stretch — not to mention the severe cold being predicted for K.C. Saturday — the Chiefs’ playoff experience is likely to be too much for the Dolphins to overcome. Miami is also 1-5 against teams with a winning record this season, a stat Mike McDaniel probably sees in glowing neon in his nightmares.
