During the ninth inning of the second game of a doubleheader between the Detroit Tigers and New York Mets at Citi Field on Thursday, Tigers fans broke out chants for Detroit Lions quarterback, Jared Goff.
The legend of the Goff chant is well known, as fans have busted it out on numerous occasions at different sporting events in the past few years — and, quite honestly, it never gets old.
But this time around, it proved to be bad luck for a Detroit team after the Mets promptly erased the Tigers’ 1-0 lead with a solo homer from Pete Alonso and a walk-off single by Tyrone Taylor.

Goff wasn’t the only Lion to get some love on Thursday, as Tigers fans also chanted the name of head coach Dan Campbell. Detroit Pistons guards Cade Cunningham and Malachi Flynn also received some love.
While the Tigers fell short in Game 2 of the doubleheader, 2-1, they did notch a victory in the first game, winning 6-3 in 11 innings.
Just a suggestion, but maybe break the Goff chants out after the Tigers wrap up the win next time.
