The subway advertisement of Lovely Runner actors Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon has been suspended.
Giftree, the company running the advertisement, stated, “According to the internal policy of the transportation corporation, if even one complaint is made, the advertisement must be taken down.”
To this, the Seoul Metro stated, “We have no involvement in this advertisement.”
Most recently, Giftree posted an explanation of why the ads were taken out.
“We would like to inform you of the situation surrounding the suspension of the advertisement of Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon, who won first place in the November season poll.
After the advertisement was posted, we received over 40 complaints asking why the two appeared together. According to the transportation corporation, if even one complaint is received, it must be suspended, so it was taken down quickly.
We tried to resume the advertisement, but we couldn’t due to the continuous complaints. Even after we asked the person who designed the ad to revise the design and submit it for review, it was rejected for the same reason.
The transportation corporation even suggested replacing it with a design that showed Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon separately, but it was rejected due to ongoing complaints.
If these complaints continue, not only will the actors have trouble advertising through us, but all subway advertisements, so we ask fans to be understanding and stop sending complaints.”
Korean netizens couldn’t understand why people were sending in complaints.
