Park Jiwoo, a member of Starship Entertainment‘s upcoming girl group, KiiiKiii, has gotten embroiled in a controversy involving IVE‘s Wonyoung.

Recently, a friend of Park posted a picture of the soon-to-be idol with a lengthy caption where they praised Park’s personality and lamented that their time together at school had ended.

Park Jiwoo, the Instagram goddess of our grade…I really cried and laughed a lot thanks to you. I had just gotten used to school life, and I thought we were finally going to come togehter as a group of 21 people…We had just started but now it’s happening too fast. When I was struggling or dealing with various things, you would listen to my worries, and I wish you would’ve shared more too…

While the caption started off as a sweet farewell to a friend, it ended with a questionable statement that many interpreted as a reference to IVE’s Wonyoung.
Your talent is unstabble. When I think about you showing off your talent on TV in a few years…You must eat strawberries with one hand, LOL. We all know how big your hand are. I love you, Park Jiwoo.

This part of the post has stirred up controversy since many netizens believe that it implied Wonyoung’s infamous “controversy,” in which she was criticized for eating a strawberry with two hands, seemingly to appear cute on camera.
The post also mentioned that Park supposedly had a panic disorder, bringing even more criticism to the post’s author.
Netizens are divided on the issue. Some feel that Park Jiwoo’s friend was not intentionally mocking the IVE member. However, those who do believe otherwise have also made it clear that Jiwoo had nothing to do with the controversy and directed the criticism solely at her friend.

- “Isn’t it just the friend’s weird personality? Why would you talk about someone else’s panic disorder and post it on your stories? They must be the loose-lipped type. If she decides to stay friends with them even after debuting, they’ll definitely screw her over.”
- “Maybe they weren’t mocking Jang Wonyoung but you guys, who mocked Jang Wonyoung…?”
- “It doesn’t seem like they’re mocking but asking her to be careful. Why are you guys twisting it?”
- “They just told her not to get into any misunderstandings.”
- “Huh? Looking at the ‘LOL’ next to it, it’s clearly mocking.”
While the jury’s still out whether Park’s friend mocked Wonyoung in the post or not, she wouldn’t be the first one to do so, at least regarding the strawberry controversy. Another girl group also got into trouble for allegedly mocking Wonyoung over it. Read more about it here:
